Lots of Waiting

Today Jason and I headed back to the properties that we are interested in purchasing. We took our time tracing out each property, checking out the views, searching for pins, and picturing how our house would be situated on the lot. It was such a special time with my husband.

During the seven hours that I had Jason to myself, we shared our ideas with each other, the plans we imagine in our hearts. We laugh as we share the same things. Sometimes we don't. We don't see quite the same way; but, then something happens. We take time to process, talk, and walk through each step to then come to a place where we feel the YES! come alive in both of us.

How I am so blessed. Jason and I pray that God will continue to align our hearts with His and with each other. To have a matching heart dream with the man I love is priceless...

Getting back to the facts :)

At this point in time, a deciding factor to many decisions is the fact that we can get to our goal mortgage free. Yes, mortgage free. We hope to purchase the property that we love at a good price leaving us enough to build a straw-bale garage with a 2-bedroom suite above (yes, it will be a good sized garage). Then over the next three to five years we will be able to save enough to build the home that we see in our hearts.

We have thought about building a tiny house or getting a mortgage, but both had more cons than pros.  If we were to build a tiny house, we could possibly grow to big for it come to hate the small living quarters, and wish we had built differently. If we get a mortgage we will continue to struggle saving for the future.

Building a suite, that would eventually be a guest suite, over a large garage will allow us the opportunity have our first run at straw bale building - so if it isn't quite right, we can learn from it before we build our home. It will be much easier living in a suite when the girls are small and don't mind sharing a room. Also, before investing in a house, trying our hand at living in a rural community first may be a good idea. That way if it doesn't work out as we dream, we will have a great recreational property and savings for somewhere else. But, if we absolutely love it, we will eventually have the savings to build the home we desire with still no mortgage.

Lots to think about. Lots to plan. Lots to process. Lots of waiting.

As much as I dislike waiting, it is such a blessing. The time allows one to think things through instead of jumping into something quickly. So many things we first thought are not what we think now. So during the times when you are tired of waiting, remember God is allowing the time for a very important purpose.  Use the time to think, pray, and ask for guidance. After the time has passed you may be surprised how your mind has been changed, shaped, and has grown.

Be grateful for times of waiting, especially for things that are worth waiting for.
