Only one choice

Things can change so quickly. Given the chance, a choice can change everything. Something first planned is no longer in sight and the new path quickly starts to form in front of you. It can be exciting and daunting all at once.

We've been in the cabin for one week shy of 5 months. We still have a couple of month to go before heading up the mountain to our home. We've been counting down the days.

Yesterday we came home from church and groceries. As we opened the door to our "trying to be grateful" rental, the smell hit us like a wall. The warm weather must have an affect on the frozen dead rodents in the walls... We can't live her any longer we say. It's just too much. How much longer do we put up with the issues, while hoping that they will go away?

That afternoon, Jason and I sat and decided a choice needed to be made. What were our options? What can we do? Thankfully due to travelling parents and a therefore a vacant house for three weeks, we jumped at the chance to invite ourselves to house sit and get out of this place.

The plan unfolded: we will pack this week, move all our belongings up to the property this coming weekend, and head to the city for three weeks. In the mean time, prepare our property for our arrival in a month's time. Jason and I are excited at the chance to head up there sooner than expected.

We break our news to the girls. Tears, Hyperventilation. Despair. We explain. We listen to their hearts. It breaks us to uproot them again, but we trust we are making the best decision at this time. They wrestle with the thoughts of leaving this temporary home, but eventually come around and too, get excited for the next chapter of our journey.

We go to bed praying for wisdom for the choices we make.

We wake to the sound of scampering in the ceiling above our bed. Yes. It is time to go.

I'm just sick at having to go to our landlords up the lane to tell them of our news. Expecting anger, I want to avoid the confrontation. But, we explain we are leaving. They don't ask questions but are actually quite understanding. We are so grateful and leave relieved. Thank you, God!

The week is planned. Hire someone to plow our 300 foot driveway and parking area of the 2 feet of snow, so that we can hopefully get a small U Haul up it on Saturday. Rent the U Haul, pack the U Haul, and hopefully find someone to help us move our piano into it and out of it and into the shed at the property...

Over the next few weeks, we will de-winterize the RV, get our lives set up once again in the 36 foot living space, get the water flowing, and start yet another genesis. I love this journey!

One choice creates a wave of activity. Here we go!
