Rest

As the whirlwind of school start up has finally simmered down (the middle of NOVEMBER) and before the beginning of term 1 report cards begin, I thought I'd squish in a moment to write about what has been happening up here on the mountain.

September and early October was spent finishing all the last needed pieces of the house so that we could call for final inspection.

We finished the siding ourselves after much contemplation as to what to do and how to stretch our money. We continued using the metal and spent 5 days on a man lift (again) to get it all done. Exterior lighting, moldings, transition strips, back slashes, bathroom wall tiling and grouting, and more was done over those weeks. Exhausted, we're happy to see these jobs completed.

On October 12th, we passed our inspection and were approved for occupancy! Hahahaha - 11 months after moving in...

It has been a relief and we continue to work away at little jobs around the house and property at our leisure.

October had some heartaches as well. We lost 3 of our chickens to coyotes. This was heart breaking for the girls, since they were their pets and sold the eggs to sponsor their child in Ecuador. However, we will be getting more chickens in the spring and building a larger coop as we begin to landscape our property.

Winter has come to the mountain and it is beautiful. We're excited for winter and rest.

Hoping to have a new kitchen table in time this Christmas to seat those friends and family comfortably who may come to visit our cozy cabin home. The fire is roaring and the snow falls outside the window. Come on up, we'd love to see you.
