Summer living

Summer is here and I breathe it in every moment I get. Finally taking a break from school and teacher work, I have been puttering away at things that I love to do. Little jobs around the house and in the yard, baking, beach time, and just taking time being in nature. It feels good to work hard in the yard pulling weeds or stacking wood and even cleaning the coop. With the sun shining and little commitments, I can’t help but be grateful for moments like these.

 

The girls continue to explore and find beauty in this place – a butterfly, mama bird, flowers, and grass. Creating their own space amongst the trees, they make their own world to grow in.

We continue to work away at the house, finishing the flooring, putting up interior doors and closets, and getting our kitchen ready for our new cabinets! This weekend we will be painting doors and trim and starting to get trim up around doors, windows, and walls. It will definitely make a huge difference in the appearance of our house. And maybe, just maybe, we have found someone who will finish the exterior of our house in stucco. I am praying for this, as I really don’t want to get up on a lift again and side the rest of it ourselves.

We’re getting 4 to 5 eggs a day from our “girls.” They sometimes surprise us with HUGE eggs. What would you call this? XXL? Poor girl, she must feel relieved now!

Another blessing is living in an area with so many amazing fresh fruits and vegetables right now. We can’t get enough of cherries, berries, peaches, apricots, nectarines, and melons, not to mention lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, peppers, and zucchini. Yummy! Crisp lunch salads daily in this house!

 

It’s hard to believe that July is already coming to an end. I will continue to breathe in one day at a time and relish in the gift given moments.
